The proposals for a new motorway service station on the new A1(M) near Selby have been submitted to the Local Authority. This follows on from a successful public consultation in the summer of 2019.

Located west of Junction 42 on the new A1(M), the development would be built on designated Green Belt land west of Selby Fork Interchange.

The proposed Selby Motorway Service Area includes an amenity building, fuel filling station and drive through retailer. The development also includes 350 parking space.

The design for both the proposed buildings and extensive landscaping has been carefully considered to enhance its surroundings whilst minimising the impact on the environment and local neighbourhood. 

The challenge for the design team on a proposal such as this was to ensure the architecture of the proposed development sat harmoniously within the context of its rural setting. The development aims to minimize its environmental footprint with a seamless blend of materials and soft landscaping to reflect the local vernacular for the region.
